Choosing the Grind

Join the Journey
This past week was a true test, both physically and mentally. We pushed through two, sometimes three workouts a day—conditioning, lifting, and practice. It was demanding, but we made it through.

What stood out most wasn’t just the sweat or the soreness. It was what we learned about each other. Every team needs to go through something hard. And honestly, every person does too. Choosing hard, even when it’s uncomfortable, builds something deeper. You don’t always come out physically on top. Some of us are feeling it in our ankles, hips, and everywhere in between, but mentally, we’re stronger. That’s the win.

We remind ourselves daily that we signed up for this. Even in the grind, it’s a blessing. We get to do what we love, and that’s not something to take lightly.

This week, we flew to Switzerland for a three-day tournament. I’m writing this while watching one of the games. The atmosphere is cool and the gym is definitely European. There are windows open to the outside and birds flying in and out. It's such a different but really cool experience. We've played one game with a couple more to go.
In the last game before flying to Switzerland, we were all tied up and headed into overtime. Unfortunately, there was a mix up with the officials and they weren't able to stay through overtime, so we ended in a tie at the end of regulation. Obviously we all wanted to keep playing, but it just goes to show you that sometimes the journey is the important thing. We'll get our wins when the regular season starts, and all of this is preparing us for that. Still shooting for the win but appreciate the experience either way.
We had a chance to walk around a bit when we landed. Not much since we had practice after a long flight, but enough to take in the culture. I’ve said it before, but I love to travel because I get to explore these cultures. I'm so grateful for that. The extravagant homes, the plates, and the architecture, for me, there's always something new to discover.

At the same time, I love how simple life feels here. I feel like that is why people are healthy over here. It’s not about excess. It’s about enough.

That mindset has stuck with me. In Europe, it’s not about consuming more or chasing profit at all costs. It’s about getting what you need and moving forward. I think that’s something we could learn from back home. Our culture strives for self-growth, ambition, evolution, and that is so important and a big part of who I am, but so is rest. So is breathing. So is working from a place of peace.

This week reminded me that grit isn’t just about pushing harder. It’s about choosing hard with purpose and doing it with a grateful heart.

Exploring Switzerland

Between games and practice, I was able to explore the sights and snapped some photos. It's a blessing to be here, doing what I love, and I am so grateful.

Can you share your schedule? How can we watch your games?
You can see the schedule on the league's website. I'm really honored that you guys back home want to watch the games over here. Hopefully there's a streaming service or some sort of video footage that I can share once the season gets rolling.
